Ushering A Happy, Wealthy and Healthy New Year!

Dear friends,

It’s the Lunar New Year!

As we welcome the year of the agile rabbit, I would like to wish upon Health as the ultimate gift for all of you!

This year’s Lunar New Year period coincides with the solar terms transition of Severe Cold (Jan 20 – Feb 03) . Severe Cold is the coolest period of the year. I believe will notice that in the some days, while the it may be bright and sunny, you will feel a little chill when the wind is blowing.

I would like to take this opportunity to share with you some TCM knowledge and skills I share in my classes, which will come in handy during this cool festive season of feasting and companionship. 3 important acupressure points that can be used for releasing headache, shoulder tension and neck pain – common areas where most people store their holiday stress – and 2 simple medicated teas that help in digestion to counteract the effect of the sumptuous and rich meals, wherever you are during these holidays.

The 3 Acupoints are

GV/DU 20 (Bai Hui), at the vertex of the head, this point is the aggregating point for Body’s Yang, massaging this point can boost the body’s yang. Main point for treatment of headache and dizziness. Massage using the palm using rotation action.

GB 21 (Jianjing) is on the top of the shoulders. This stress relief acupressure point is where you have the most tension on your shoulder. It’s easiest to use the opposite hand to press this point. Feel for the tension, by curving your fingers to hook and firmly rubbing the Jianjing for 5 times

BL10 (Tianzhu)  is on the back of your neck, just one thumb width down from you skull. This acupressure point is good for hormonal balance, since it benefits the thyroid gland and the most effective acupoint treatment for depression. Use the thumb and index finger massage the Tianzhu for 20 times.
